I really think this is a good idea for a smaller dog. My dog weighs 100+
lbs. He is/was not leash trained at all. He was pulling me off my feet and
I am not a small person. Since using the prong training collar I have had
excellent results. I did not have to do much of anything except praise him
when he got it right. I just got him two days ago. I think different
training for different dogs. Just like with humans. What works for one dog
might not work for another.

Unfortunately the dog used in this video was already trained how to walk on
a leash. This is why she did so well. You can tell this just by her body
language and the fact that she listened right away. Any dog that isn’t
trained will not learn that fast without some kind of correction that a dog
understands. We all need to remember that the language a dog speaks is
much different than what humans speak. Prong collars, choke chains, etc.
are perfect for correcting a dog’s behavior IF USED PROPERLY!!!
Misinformation can, and many times, lead to a mentally unbalanced dog as
well as a human getting hurt. This video is misleading and I hope that
people can understand that a dog needs to be treated like a dog if they are
going to have any success.

Great video! I did notice one thing though… it seems like a kiss on the
nose, to a dog, would be more akin to a correction since mother dogs
correct puppies in s similar manner. I’m sure your dog now knows what you
mean but it might not be good for everyone to put their face so close to
their dog’s face as a reward.

Priscilla you said you didn’t need to do anything worth the prong collar –
of course you didn’t, the reason it works is because it causes pain. The
dog then doesn’t pull because he’s frightened of the pain that pulling
causes. Your poor dog is scared of you hurting him. Have you actually tried
training him for several weeks/months?

Hi George, I’ve done this with my dog and I will say it has not worked. He
knows the commands to stay by my side. In fact, he listens better when he
is off leash, but he refuses to obey when he leaves home. I have a choker,
but I since it is not helping, I’ll get a regular collar. I will follow
your advice and will try to train him at home first. But would you have any
more ideas? Thanks a bunch!

when my dog would become interested in another dog we would use a treat or
something to gain her attention back to use and tell her leave it and when
she was refocused on us we would give the treat and continue to walk again
saying leave it. we then used the command lets go to mean lets continue
walking. you want to get the dogs attention focused on you. i did this same
thing for my cousins dog this past summer and it worked well for him also.

I was teaching my cousins dog not to pull over the summer. if he pulled we
stopped and he had to sit. when he sat we would walk again. i did this over
and over until he did not pull.

would be better if he showed a dog that really pulls instead of one that
listens well.. cuz the pup/dog will prob still pull as u stop..
